Blue Ridge Parkway (7/7)

I'm still figuring out how to do this. It didn't work last night so I'm trying it again this morning. Gail and Joe headed home and Brian, Rich and I headed to the Parkway for cooler temperatures and some fantastic riding. The twists and sweepers are just unbelievable along with the views. We decided we liked the Blue Ridge better then Skyline. Most of the time, we were the only ones on the road. It was over 100 degrees by afternoon in Salem and Brian found a short loop that went up into the mountains. We came out on top by a beautiful winery. Here are some pictures of our day. The sign was at Jimmy John's where we had lunch. Mileage: 170

  1. Awesome sign and great pics to go along with the update. Gail and I made our way home from Harrisburg today taking I-81 up to exit 100. We followed RT 443 and then RT 209 up to I-80 east into NJ. We hopped off the interstate just after that rest area we stopped at on our way down when somebody took the wrong ramp. We traveled up RT 94 and made a couple stops along the way, one was a little ice cream place (Rosies)that just opened in Franklin NJ where we met and talked with the owner for awhile. They guided us to RT 23 which brought us to High Point NJ which happens to be the highest point in NJ at 1803 ft. I know this pales in comparison to some of the altitudes we were at along the Skyline but it was a beautiful scenic ride nonetheless. We got home at 4:45 pm. Definitely a long day in the saddle for us both. Total miles today; 324! Total miles for our trip from start to finish ended up being 1184. Be safe and try to keep us updated with your adventures when you can. Look forward to seeing you again in a couple weeks. Joe and Gail.

  2. Rt 209 is my favorite. Bushkill Falls is a nice spot for a break.
